Knowledge is Power

Knowledge, Wisdom, and Discernment

The Bible says in Hosea 4:6: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Knowledge is facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education, the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. Wisdom is the proper use of knowledge through experience, and good judgement. In other words, wisdom can be the ability to have discernment and common sense in how and when to disperse knowledge.

Pride

But knowledge alone can puff a person up leading to pride, while love builds up others. (1 Corinthians 8:1) Don’t become a legend in your own mind because pride comes before a fall. People who are overconfident or too arrogant are likely to fail. This saying is adapted from the Book of Proverbs. “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18) With that being said, knowledge is critical to our survival.

The phrase, “knowledge is power” is often attributed to Francis Bacon, from his Meditationes Sacrae (1597) But Thomas Jefferson also used the phrase in his correspondence on at least four occasions, each time in connection with the establishment of a state university in Virginia. With knowledge and/or education, one’s potential or one’s objectives will certainly increase.

Discernment

To have discernment is to be able to judge well. In the Christian contexts, the gift of discernment is a supernatural perception in the absence of judgement with a view to obtaining spiritual guidance and understanding. The spiritual gift of discernment includes perceiving the true character of people and the source and meaning of spiritual manifestations. (1 Corinthians 12:10) “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)

It is important to use discernment with knowledge, as to not go off the tracks in one’s life and end up in a ditch. Knowledge and discernment can be acquired from many sources, but also come from practice and experience. “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” (Hebrews 5:14) “And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.” (Philippians 1:9)

Life Application

In the days we are living in, knowledge is critical. I am talking about knowledge that comes from both natural and supernatural sources. Afterall, without knowledge we may certainly perish. We achieve this knowledge by researching for ourselves everything from the experimental vaccines now on the market to the laws that help us stand up for our rights. As a Bible teacher and minister I rely heavily on my spiritual discernment, while as a paralegal I also dig deep into the law of the land to find out what my legal rights are.

Laws can be very confusing to understand but there are plenty of resources out there.

Attorney Thomas DeVore does an excellent job explaining what different laws mean, especially pertaining to illegal masking, testing, and quarantine over these last two years. He offers videos and documents explaining what our rights are as United States citizens. In my opinion, one of the biggest obstacles to getting free from tyranny is the fact that lawlessness has run rampant in our world. The mainstream media then spins the story to confuse people even more. That is why I am so passionate about getting accurate information and knowledge out there to the general public. If we understand our legal rights, then we will be much more effective when we have to explain ourselves and stand up for others who may not be able to stand up for themselves.

I recently spoke at a school board meeting, and I was able to do just that, stand up for school children that are being illegally masked. I was able to study and prepare ahead of time to be able to express the rights of the parents and the children. I also prayed before I went up to speak that God would help me articulate myself. In the end the school board voted to make masks optional, even though their “legal counsel,” advised them to continue the mask mandate.

Lawlessness and End Times

“And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24: 4-14)
